Luton Brass Band

About Us
Luton has a rich history in brass banding, there has been a brass band in the town for over 140 years. For the majority of this time the town’s band was called “Luton Band” (Also known as Ashton Street Mission Band, Luton Red Cross, Luton Red Cross Silver Prize). This band was formed in 1883. Luton band reached heights most bands could only dream of. One of their greatest achievements was becoming National Champions of Great Britan in 1923. Sadly, in 2002 “Luton Band” disbanded and Luton was without a town band for nearly 20 years.
However, in September 2019 “Luton Brass Band” was formed. The founders wanted to create a band for the local community where brass musicians of any standard would be able to come together to make music. With links to the town and even the original “Luton band”, musicians from the area came together to form Luton Brass Band.
Since forming in 2019 we have grown year on year, performing a different event throughout the calendar year including the grand opening of the Luton Bandstand in 2022. We are proud that we are now able to offer a full calendar of events, which include:
-
3 concerts per year (including special guests)
-
A summer series (performing at local events and on local bandstands)
-
A Christmas caroling season
We hope you can join us at events throughout the year.
